HOGAN, Frank Thomas

How and what probate records can I obtain on my uncle from the Essex County Probate court?

I realize that adoption records are sealed, however would there be possible guardianship, name changes for Frank or abandonment/desertion by his father?

I have records that show Frank Thomas Hogan was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts 13 March 1901  and baptized as Francis Thomas Hogan at St Ann Catholic Church 14 April 1901. His parents were John J. Hogan and Mary C. Whalen.

His mother Died 7 Nov 1908 and his father abandoned their six children shortly later.

The oldest child was my father, John Hogan b.1899. He and his sister Ellen were taken in by his aunt Ellen Bridget Kelly from Boston.

Another sister, Florence, lived with an uncle Patrick Hogan in Gloucester for a while before joining John and Ellen in Boston.

I Have not been able to find Frank or his two other siblings, Annie Mae Hogan b. Aug 1902 and James Frederick Hogan b. Feb 1908.

However, I did find Both Frank T. Hogan and Anna M. Hogan, listed as "State Child" in the 1910 census in ward 6, Lynn, Massachusetts. They were living at 50 Walnut St with George A. Doherty and Alice M. Doherty.

Any help would be appreciated,

John  Hogan
