I am researching my ancestor Samuel UPTON, born April 22, 1744 in Danvers, Mass. The information of his birth (and his siblings) was published in "The Records of Salem Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849 - Vol. II" and the source of that information was a family bible, which at the time (1909) was in the possession of a Mary P. Wiley. Would anyone know of this bible and it's possible whereabouts?

Brendan Sheehan responded on May 1, 2012: Google allows the free download of the pdf version of the book.

Hi I have recently started to look for family history. My grandfather moved to Essex around 1926 (that was the last border crossing record found) His name was Osbourn K Jardine born 1895, died in Hathorne, Essex, Massachusetts, 1968. Do you have any records of him? I am curious to know if we have family in Essex.

Am seeking information on Frankie Heath, vaudeville & screen actress.

Reply, 11 April 2011 - I don't have any specific information on Frankie Heath, though I am interested if you have information on Bobby Heath (Robin Frear). Bobby Heath performed vaudeville acts, wrote songs and was a relative of Thomas K. Heath (McIntyre & Heath). Maybe there is a connection. Thanks, Vince Griffin

Reply back 4 September 2011 - Hi Vince, I have a little information on McIntyre & Heath, but none on Bobby Heath. I don't know if they were related or not.I have a computer print of a photo of Tom Heath and several of Frankie. I am still working to find the relationship between Frankie (Frances, Flossie, Florence)??? and Tom, but am leaning toward the idea that he was her uncle. Of course I could be wrong (I have been on occasion) Ha, Ha! Will be happy to share what information I have on Tom & Frankie if you are interested. Pauline McAuliffe

Response from Al Bukys: Your Isaac is No. 6 on page 129 in the "Foster Genealogy" compiled by Frederick Clifton Pierce, published 1899. I am wondering if Isaac's son Eleazer, No. 51, is your forebear as his following descendants are consistent with your names.

Eliza [Landers] TINKHAM, died: 6 Jun 1908 in Danvers (Widow of Benjmn). Death Cert states she was buried @ Holten Cemetery. Findagrave does not list her as buried there. If possible, can I get the Obit for her and maybe the cemetery info. She first appears in Danvers around 1887 and is listed in the City Directory as a Widow. I assume her husband Benjamin died in Nova Scotia shortly before she went to Danvers. However, Benj & Eliza may have travelled together. Son Hartley also lived in Danvers. Husband Benjamin was most like descended from Peter Browne of the the Mayflower.

I am looking for the parents of Roger Sargent. He was born in 1794 and died in Gloucester MA in about 1839. He was married to Betsey Currier(1790-1840).

Response by Kenneth Sargent on May 11, 2012: The supposed parents of Roger Sargent is Thomas Sargent and Jemima Haskell but I am not convinced. Roger is my 4th Great Grandfather. I am interested in knowing how you are related to Roger.

Response by LaDonnaI on Oct. 15, 2012: It's not a lot, but I found the death records in Gloucester, Mass. They showed:
Roger Sargent D: 8 DEC 1838("drowned-buried at sea"), father-Thomas.

Someone had on his family tree that his father was married twice:
M1 to Lucy Haskell who died in 1781(their last child being Montgomery B: 1780). M2 to Jemima Haskell(this being his mother).

Betsy D: 14 AUG 1840("consumption-buried in Gloucester"), parents were Judith and Frank Currier.

See page: http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=2204&iid=32596_242180-00299&pid=388352&ssrc=&fn=Lucy&ln=Haskell&st=g <

"Dr. Thomas Haskell's wife" D: 1781( Gloucester)

Every little bit helps-every clue gets closer to solving the little mysteries of our families.
Good Luck, LaDonnaI ( I am no relation-just thought I'd try to help)

Surname: Batten
Query submitted by: Diane Stefane
Primary Goals: To share information, To learn more about relatives, To identify sources of specific information
Time Period: 1700's or earlier, 1800's, 1900's
The printed VR Gloucester to 1850 V1 births p86 has 2 listings for Batten, Samuel. The first is Samuel, Dec. 8, 1836. P.R 61. The second is Samuel, s. Samuel and Elizabeth, Oct. 6, 1837. On US Census 1900 Gloucester I find Samuel Batten b. Dec 1836, wf Eliza A. b. Oct 1844 abd "mother" Mary A, Daily, b. Oct 1822. The trail of birth and marriage records show this household to be Samuel Batten, wife Eliza A. Kenton [VR MA 1841-1910 131:154] and her mother Mary Ann Lufkin [VR Gloucester to 1850 V2 p352] and MA VR 1841-1910 117:141]. On the marriage record of Samuel and Eliza, her parents are stated as Thomas and Mary Ann Lufkin, his are stated as Samuel and Elizabeth. This trail shows conclusively that the Samuel Batten b. Dec 1836 had parents Samuel and Elizabeth. My question is, can anyone state certainly that the two Samuels listed on p 82 are either the same person or two different persons? Could the December 1836 entry be his birth and the 1837 be his baptism, but not listed as such? Are they two different people with two different sets of parents who coincidentally have the same given names? Is the first Samuel an illegitimate son of Samuel Sr. and another Elizabeth? I would welcome any light anyone can shed on the problem of the two Samuels.
