Surname: Harris
Query submitted by: Lynn Harris-Eggleston
Primary Goals: To identify sources of specific information
Time Period: 1900's
I would like to know the name of the cemetery where my grandfather Ray Douglas Harris is buried. He died 23 Sep 1918, at the time the family lived on Laurel Street in Beverly. From what I can remember my grandmother saying he is buried in Beverly but I have no idea where. I've checked the usual websites for this information with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Al Buckys responded on Nov 22, 2011: Have you tried contacting the Cemetery Department in Beverly City Hall? They gave me a great boost when I was looking for my great grandfather's grave. They even provided me with a map of the grave vicinity and details of the grave site. If you can't visit them call their office telling them what you are looking for with nameand dates. You may learn more details about your family than expected just like I did! Good luck.

I am looking for information about a Sarah Twiss who married Eli Thomas in 1805 in Salem, MA. My only actual question here is whether anyone can direct me to Harriet Dieterich who authored a "Research in Progress" on the Twiss family in the 1991 Vol. 10 edition of the Essex Genealogist on pagees 192-194 and again in Vol. 11.

Surname: Hill
Query submitted by: Jennifer Burr
Primary Goals: To learn more about relatives
Time Period: 1800's
Looking for grave of Edwin Ruthven Hill, Union soldier from Salem killed in South Carolina in 1864. Have book written by his brother, Henry (Jottings from Memory) that states Edwin is buried in "the quiet churchyard in Salem". The book also says that Edwin's headstone has lines from the Battle Hymn of the Republic on it "In the beauty of the lilies . . ."). Thanks.

Added Comment March 10, 2015:
In case you ever get another query about Lt. Hill, a distant cousin and avid researcher has noticed that his grave was posted to Find a Grave last year, albeit with a couple of details misidentified (probably because the stone is nearly illegible).  He is in the Howard Street Cemetery in Salem, MA.  Thank you to whoever unearthed and documented his headstone. I am looking for descendants of Samuel and Maria Dresser from Georgetown. Their children were Mary L., Carrie M. and Charles P. Dresser. I believe their grandson was Rodney C. Dresser who passed away in 2007, but I do not know if he had any children.
