I. Joseph ROSS. b. 1683 prob. at Ipswich, Mass. m. Sarah UTLEY on Sep 16, 1716. d. 1743 Ten children, but I only have names of 7: sons Joseph, Simeon, Jeremiah, John, and Zebulon; daughter, Abigail; and a seventh name, Jerusha, which may have been either son or daughter.

II. Jeremiah ROSS. b. July 26, 1721 at Windham, Conn. m. Ann PAINE on Oct 31, 1744. d. Feb 8, 1777. Ten children: sons Perrin, Jeremiah, and William; and daughters Aleph, Ann, Sarah, Diana, Mary, Lucy, and Elizabeth.

III. Perrin ROSS. b. Jul 4, 1748 at Windham, Conn. m. Marcy OTIS at Montville, Conn. d. Wyoming Massacre, Jul 3, 1778 (Pennsylvania).

Reply by Bob Gillis on August 16, 2012:
There is no Joseph Ross born in Ipswich in the late 1600s. I do not seen any other child or twin born to John around that date. Some WorldConnect files say he may be the Joshua born twin to John 13 Mar 1682 Ct R; among them is Benear/Dube/Forsythe - Genealogy Page. However much of the Ross data in this file cannot be verified by on-line sources. The Essex County VRs <1850 may be searched at http://ma-vitalrecords.org/.

Surname: Smith
Query submitted by: Elizabth Holland St. Amand
Primary Goals: To learn more about relatives
Time Period: 1800's
Richard P Smith and Isabella D Macdougall came from Inverness, NS. I believe they had a child born in Essex in the 1880s. Isabella and family were living in Lynn, MA in 1890, but no trace of Richard. My aunt remembers hearing that they came to Essex for work with an uncle who was in the ship building business.

Reply by Bob Gillis on 21 August 2012: Searching for Smith records on Familysearch.org with Richard P and Isabella parents returns more than 5 children born/married in Gloucester.
Isabella is a widow in the 1900 Census with Thomas M, 24, born Canada English; M Euphemia 22, CE; Hattie P, 17, MA; Ethel R 15, MA and Leroy C, 9, MA They immigrated in 1882.
I cannot find a death for Richard P in MA ,1882 - 1891 without knowing his parents' names.
You can find Thomas' birth record at https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/.

Reply by Elizabeth St. Amand to Bob Gillis's response on August 22: Richard Potter Smith was my great, great grandfather. His parents were James Parker Smith and Elizabeth Jane (or Jean) MacKean of Hillsborough, Inverness, Nova Scotia. When Richard and Isabella came to the US did they ever live in the town of Essex or another town in Essex county? Is there a record of what he did for a living and/or for whom he worked? Is there any record of when they moved to Lynn, MA? Any help in finding out what happened to Richard would be greatly appreciated.

I am related to a John Fuller of Ipswich who died in 1666. I am convinced he is the son of William Fuller of Chelmsford England, a locksmith who sent his two sons John and William to the colonies in 1635. Many others say he is the son of Roger of Redenhall. I would like to know what is true.
