Hello!
I am researching the Lovett's who were primarily from Beverly, MA. When my dad,
(Stephen K. Lovett) died, he left a handwritten note that his paternal
grandparents were John M Lovett (b. abt. 1828 in Chelmsford,MA) and Rosetta
Peavey. This same note claimed that Thomas Lovett (b.1793 in Beverly) and Molly
Morgan were his great-grandparents. My research turns up one offspring for
Thomas and Molly, a girl named Catherine Augusta (b. April 25,1823 in
Chelmsford.) If John were a son to Thomas, there is a connection back to 1610! (
A John Lovett who was married to a Mary Grant.) I would love help connecting
John to Thomas!
Thank You so much!!! Judy Dorsett edorsett@msn.com |

16 July 2002 I
am trying to locate descendants of the siblings of James Griffin HUGHES, my
great grandfather. Edward, Michael, and John were his brothers; Mary Catherine
was his sister. I have a fragment of a letter to one of my aunts from Mary
Catherine's granddaughter, whose name I do not know. Mary married John FLANAGAN.
Edward married and had two children; I do not know his wife's or children's
names. One of the older brothers remained unmarried, and the third married but
had no children. John is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Dover, NH, as are his
sister, Mary (Mrs. Peter CONNELLY) and other members of the family. James
fought in the Crimean War in the British cavalry at the age of 14, later
immigrating to the US when the British authorities pursued him for his Irish
freedom activities. Upon arrival in the Us, via Boston, he temporarily lived
with his aunt , Mrs. DORAN, in Amesbury. Later, he fought in the Civil War in
Battery F of the 5th U.S. Artillery, Second Division 6th Corps, Army of the
Potomac. any help or clues will be deeply appreciated. I live in rural
Oklahoma, not the best place to be for genealogical research in Massachusetts.

I am researching my genealogy and have discovered that there are papers or a
book called "Genealogical records of Descendants of John & Anthony Emery of
Newbury, Mass. 1590-1890 compiled by Rev. Rufus Emery printed in 1891 by The
Salem Press. If there is any possibility of getting a copy of this publication

My mother and I are going to attend the Colby family reunion in August and plan
to come to visit Amesbury, Newburyport August 19-20. we have records back to
Ebenezer Colby born in 1788 and are trying to prove the earlier generation.
Family history indicates that this Ebenezer was the son of John Colby who was a
Baptist minister in New Hampshire. John should be the son of Ebenezer Colby and
Mary Chase. We are hoping to find proofs or at least clues on this trip. Any
suggestions of where we can go to look?

Hi to all on this list!
Looking for information about Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson who lived in
Haverhill MA in the late 1800's. Joseph Johnson was born about 1795 place
unknown and he lived later in Nova Scotia where he married Sarah unknown last
name. they had a large family most remained in NS. In about 1850+ he "ran off"
with Mrs. Elizabeth Adams. she was born Elizabeth Christie in Barrington NS in
about 1823. She married Charles Ezekial Adams, he had one son and the left her
family. Joseph and Lizzie apparently went to Haverhill MA where they "married"
and lived until he died year unknown. Elizabeth Johnson died 23 jan 1900. I
expect they are buried in Haverhill. Are there cemetery inscriptions of the
older Haverhill area graveyards? Town directories from 1860-1900? Town census
information 1860-1900 about them? Any Haverhill area Johnson family researchers?
Would anyone who has any information about either of them kindly help?
Thanks for this

Looking for any information about the BRODERICK families living in Lynn from the
years 1890 to 1920. My great grandparents, Mathew and Bridget Broderick, lived
in Lynn, attended St. Mary's Church and are buried in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Mathew was a lineman with the B, RB & Lynn RR. I see from the Lynn City
directories that there were several other Broderick families. Would like to be
able to connect the families with new information.
