I am searching for the PARENTS of a Joseph D. Moody who married Sarah A. Brewer in May of 1841 Ipswich, Essex Co., MA. According to the IGI, they were married at the First Congregational Church in Ipswich. (they cited sources as VR's and this church).

Joseph Moody's birth is undetermined at this time, but I do know that he and Sarah had a daughter named Susan D. Moody born Sept. 1841. (same year they were married according to VR's). then I lose track of them until the 1850 Ipswich, Essex Co., Ma CENSUS. It shows Sarah MOODY living with her parents John and Hannah BREWER in Ipswich along with children: Susan, William (born 1843 MA), James (born 1845 in MAINE) and Daniel Moody b. 1849 also in Maine. Daniel is my 3rd grt. grandfather and he was only 9 months old at the time of the 1850 Census.

I am suspicious that Joseph ~may~ be the son of Daniel Moody b. 1781 Salisbury (son of Samuel Moody) and Jemima Stevens of Salisbury, Essex, Co., MA who moved to Cornville, Somerset Co., Maine. They had a son named Joseph who was born in 1820. I hope I have provided enough info and covered all backgrounds to hopefully get results from someone here.

Any help on this would be Very Much appreciated as I have no access where I am to Essex Co. VR's etc.

Hi,

I am researching the LULL family of Essex County. They were in Newbury & Haverhill in the early to mid 1700's. ANY information about them would be appreciated but in particular, the parentage of JOHN LULL who married JERUSHA MERRITT before 1763. Apparently they moved on to Ware, MA, as the only child I find for them was born there in 1763.

Thanks

Trying to locate Charles Coolbroth and Hattie (Harriet) Augustus Kimball Coolbroth. She is said to have been born in Easton, MA on Apr 13, 1842 to John and Susanna Williams Kimball.

They married Oct 11, 1863 in Marblehead, MA.

And on Apr 23, 1869 Charles and Hattie A sold land in Saco, ME and, on the recorded deed, it lists their home as being in Lynn, Essex, MA.

Does anyone know of these people and what happened to them? Do they have any descendants in the area? Any help greatly appreciated.

My wife's family of BLOODS have a long lineage. It appears that about 1635 one of her relatives married in Concord, MA. A large family was started. I wish to document those folks so I need a researcher to locate records, etc., for several people. I would like to have verification of births, marriages and deaths. It appears that Bloods were in Concord at least till 1725. That's a lot of years!

What do you think? I look forward to our e-mail's.

I am doing an extensive search of the VIVIAN family that came to Essex County from the Belgrade/Vassalboro area of Maine in the mid-1800's.

Wilmot W. Vivian, a carpenter, is first in the Salem Directory in 1850 and died in May 1899.

Joseph Vivian appears briefly in 1859, shortly after his 1855 Salem marriage to Charlotte Garrett Tiplady. I believe, but am trying to confirm, that he may be the same Joseph Vivian who married Dinah Wyman of Belgrade, Maine in 1814 and by whom he had several children, including Willard S. Vivian.

Willard S. Vivian (c 1827 - 1885) married (1) Caroline R. Garrett May 1855 and (2) Martha Sargent Tucker (1833-1918), the daughter of Lydia Riggs Sargent and John Tucker of Gloucester, February 1865. Willard and Martha lived in Gloucester most, if not all, of their married life.

Any information that people can share with me about any of these Vivian's, or other members of their family, would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in obtaining the names of genealogists who might be willing to do some research in the Ipswich area. I know that Captain Ephraim Gibson lived there. It is said he died of smallpox while his ship was in the British West Indies. His widow, Joanna Wood Gibson, the married Joseph Raynsford of Canterbury, CT. in 1752. I cannot spend a large sum on this, but also cannot get back there, and macular degeneration would keep me from being able to look anything up, anyway. Would there, for instance, be archives containing the names of Sea Captains who sailed out of that area? Is there a possibility there would be newspaper items from that era? Any guidance you can give me would be so very much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Would anyone know the address of Sarah Allen of Manchester, MA in 1833 or her father, Jacob Allen, also of Manchester around the same time?

I have recently begun searching my family tree and have been quite fortunate to receive a great deal of information from my dad's cousin. She traced one branch of our family to William and Ruth Sawyer who had (according to her documentation) at least twelve children born in Newbury (formerly Wessacucon) Essex, MA between August 24, 1645 and November 3, 1670. Our ancestors continued to live in Newbury until about 1845.

I am interested in obtaining information on Newbury during those time periods and confirming the accuracy of the information

Thank you for your time.
