DITSON, Thomas
On behalf of the Billerica Historical Society, I would like to ask if anyone knows where Thomas DITSON (1741-1828) is buried ! The information we have gathered so far is that he lived his first 40 years in Billerica and his second 40 years in Ashby and Townsend. Later in life he married for the second time to a lady from the next town, Mason, NH.
One record says that he died in Townsend, and another record says he died in Mason.None of the people in the 3 Historical Societies know about Thomas DITSON.
This is also important because for over 12 years a "Yankee Doodle Homecoming Weekend" has been held in Billerica for the purpose of honoring their Revolutionary War hero, Thomas DITSON.

MARSHALL, Isaac
Hello - I am an enthusiastic amateur genealogist who is trying to research my husband's MARSHALL roots. I am trying to locate the parents of ISAAC MARSHALL who married ABIGAIL COGSWELL (b. 1731 Ipswich, MA) on 22 Feb 1749 in Chebacco (Ipswich), MA (from Mass Vital Records). Wenham Vital Records list an Isaac Marshall, son of John, who was baptized at Chebacco (Ipswich), MA on 4 Jul 1725. Isaac and Abigail had 8 children (Isaac b. 1750 d. young, Joanna b. 1753, Isaac b. 1756, John b. 1757, Henry & Jefferd (same date, apparently twins?) b. 1764, William b. 1765, Samuel b. 1768. The records for Isaac, Joanna, Isaac and John were all from Chebacco Parish (CR4). Henry, Jefferd, William and Samuel's records were in the Fourth Church, Chebacco (CR 7). Some of the family apparently left the area and went to Maine, since the 1790 Head of Household census for Gorham/Scarborough (Cumberland), Maine shows an Isaac Marshall as head of household, with one other female over 16 and another male over 16 and underneath Isaac's listing, William Marshall is listed as head of a household. My husband's ancestor is Isaac's son William Marshall who was baptized 3 Feb 1765 in Ipswich, MA (Fourth Church in Chebacco) (Mass Vital Records). He married Sarah Plummer (born 13 Oct 1771 Scarborough, ME) in the First Congregational Church in Scarborough, ME on 11 Apr 1791 (Maine Historical and Genealogical Recorder). They had 9 children (3 born in Columbia, ME where he owned a sawmill there), 1 born in Scarborough, ME and the last 5 born in Saco, ME. My husband's 3rd great-grandfather Henry Marshall was born in Saco, ME on 1805.
I read the article yesterday from NEHGR on the Edmund Marshall family of Chebacco, but I don't see any connection. However, I also read with interest the article about the three Thomas Marshall's who baffle researchers in the Essex Genealogist (Vol. 16 1996 pp. 158-68 and 233-234)
Any help anyone can give me on the elusive JOHN MARSHALL who may be Isaac's father would be much appreciated!!!
