WALSH, Daniel

My name is Diana Martin, and I am working as a research assistant attempting to compile genealogy information on the crew of the USS Monitor.  I am currently looking for information on Daniel Walsh, a seaman on the ship.  He was born in Ireland in around 1835.  He was the son of John and Catherine Walsh, who were both born in Ireland. The family would immigrate to the United States some time before the Civil War.  Daniel was a sailor by trade.  In 1890, Daniel, his parents and his sister Mary were all living in Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts.  He is listed as being a widower. 

I write to you today to request your help in locating further information pertaining to this man’s life. Copies of vital records,

newspaper articles, and/or family histories would be of great assistance.
