FLANNIGAN/FLANAGAN
Nicholas FLANNIGAN (Born 1808, Ireland; Died 1860, Salem, Essex, Mass) and Thomas FLANAGAN (Born abt 1818, Ireland; Died 1844, Salem, Essex, Mass.) were living in Salem, Massachusetts at the same time. ARE THEY RELATED? I would like to share additional information found about both men and their families; need help in determining if they are related, and then finding their place of birth in Ireland.
Thanks,
Jackie Flanigan Robinson

ELLSWORTH, George (Ainsworth)
Hello...
My name is Robert Ellsworth, I live in upstate NY. I am trying to find out more information about my great-grandfather George (Ainsworth) Ellsworth....I will tell you what I know. My great-grandfather was born in Mass. in 1852-53. When I was 7 or 8 years old (53 years ago) my grand-father, George Benjamin Ellsworth, told me: 'you know, our name used to be Ainsworth'. George (Ainsworth) Ellsworth married my great-grandmother, Harriet Whipple circa 1882-1885 in 'The Glen' town of Chester, Warren County, New York. They lived with her parents until 1899-1900, they had two children: George Benjamin and Dora Belle, aka Daisey Belle. Supposedly, as family lore goes, he was an alcoholic and a gambler and abandoned his family (I have some doubts about this because he was superintendant of the local school in the Glen and he lived with his family for the first 15 years - always with his in-laws - that might drive anybody to drink. At any rate, when I have searched for him, I can find no George Ellsworth born in MA in 1852 or 1853, and after he left Chestertown, NY, he also disappears. Again, family lore says he went back to Mass. started another family, got sick, wanted to come back to his family here in NY and his son told him to 'kiss off'...further searches do not show a George Ellsworth on any other records etc. The reason I am contacting you is, if it is true; 'our name used to be Ainsworth'...then I think that George Ainsworth was the son of George and Mary Ainsworth of Amesbury, MA, they show up on the 1870 census, along with their children Joseph, George and Benjamin...the two names George and Benjamin are family names, my grand-father and father were both named George Benjamin Ellsworth. These two brothers, George and Benjamin Ainsworth next appear on the 1880 census for Manchester, NH, they are both working in a 'wooling mill'....they both disappear after that census, however, my great-grandfather next shows up in the 1892 New York census, he is living with my great-grandmother, their two children, and the Whipple family. No one of my father's brothers or sisters would say anything about great-grandfather except that he was 'no good'....that is why everything is so sketchy...if you have any information or can find out anything abour George Ainsworth-Ellsworth, born in 1852-53, and died? i'm guessing, sometime between 1900 and 1910, i would be most thankful.
Robert J. Ellsworth
