Time Period: 1700's or earlier
Looking for information on AsielWashburn Darken captain of steamboat Ulysses,
wife Relief, daughter Augusta circa 1867
Response by Bob Gillis on August 12, 2012:
The only Google result for Asiel Washburn Darken And Ulysses AND Relief is your query. In the subject name you have Calden and time period you say 1700s but in the query you have 1867. In the Essex County VRs <
1850 there are records for Derken and Durken but no Asiel or Relief. In the 1870 Census in Sudbury, Middlesex on familysearch.org, there is an Asahel Darken and wife Mary. Recheck your information and re-submit with sources, correct surnames and dates.

Surname: Haynes
Query submitted by: Maggie Hein
Primary Goals: To identify sources of specific information
Time Period: 1700's or earlier
Researching Jonathan Haynes, b. 3 Sep 1684 in Newbury. He had a brother Joseph Haynes b. 4 Aug 1689 in Haverhill. Their parents were Jonathan Haynes and Sarah Moulton. Canadian records indicate the brothers immigrated to Quebec, became naturalized Canadian citizens in 1710, married French Canadian spouses and remained in Canada. Looking for suggestions about where to go next in researching the parents. What records would be available to me?
Response by Bob Gillis on 22 August 2012:
Per the Essex County VRs <1850
Jonathan Haynes son of Jonathan was born in Newbury 3 Sep 1684 to Jonathan
Jonathan also had Mary 14 Nov 1674; Mary again 2 Oct 1677 and Thomas 14 May 1680
Joseph Haines son of Jonathan was born 4 Aug 1689 in Haverhill to Jonathan and Sarah Mouton.
Jonathan Haynes married Mary Mouton 1 Jan 1674 in Newbury I cannot tell if this is a first wife or a recording error
Haverhill Deaths: Jonathan Haines h. Sarah Moulton [b. Eng. 1616 came to this country 1636 GR3] killed [by Indians near Lowell ave. GR3] 22 Feb 1697-8
No Mary or Sarah Moulton was born in Newbury or Haverhill
You can search the VRs at http://ma-vitalrecords.org/ for a marriage of a Sarah Moulton to Jonathan Hai/ynes
look in the WorldConnct files on rootsweb.com
I suggest asking on the MAESSEX list on rootsweb.com. A Newbury or
Haverhill History may have more info on this family.

Primary Goals: To share information
Time Period: 1700's or earlier
Looking for information on Eliphalet Currier born 8-14-1717 in Amesbury, MA; Married Mary Lowell 12/11/1740
Reply by Bob Gillis on August 12, 2012:
Eliphelet Currier was born 14 Aug 1717 in Amesbury to John and Judeth.
He married Mary Lowell 11 Dec 1740.
John Currier married Judeth Stevens of Salisbury 29 Nov 1705. You can search the Essex County VRs< 1850 at ma-vitalrecords.org.
I suggest that you use a date system like above rather than the numeric.
There is less chance for confusion especially in the dual dating time period.

Surname: STEWART, Alexander
Query submitted by: Patsy Renfro
Primary Goals: To learn more about relatives
Time Period: 1700's or earlier
I found the following in Whyte, Donald. A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to the USA.
Stewart, Alexander. Royalist prisoner. Transported to Massachusetts, 1651/52; Middlesex County. Son Alexander, ca."
I am looking for additional information and I found the following:
Prisoners on this second ship, the "John and Sarah" were to be deliverd to Thomas Kemble of Boston, who would place the prisoners in indentured positions to pay for their voyage. A list of prisoners transported on this voyage was recorded in Suffolk Massachusetts Deeds vol. 1 pp. 5-6, and reprinted, without comment, in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register vol. 1 (1847) pp. 377-379. This list was reprinted in alphabetical order, along with a paper by Colonel Charles E. Banks, read before the Massachusetts Historical Soceety in TheEssex Genealogist vol. 6 #1 (Feb. 1986) pp. 9-15. The paper read by Charles Banks gives a fairly lengthy historical background to the shipment and disposition of these transplanted Scots.
Does the name/information of Alexander Stewart appear in Charles Banks' papers. If "yes" can I get a copy?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
